What a beautiful weekend to see whales on the Atlantic Pearl from 8-10-22 to 8-21-22
Another beautiful weekend to see some whales on The Atlantic Pearl! As you can see from the photos below, the Whales were again highly active this weekend.
On the morning of 8-20-22, a Minke whale was observed moving quickly, with frequent direction changes. Later on our afternoon cruise, they saw breath exchanges, terminal dives, fluke showings, one breach, and a total of seven whales spotted! One cownose ray was also observed.
8-21-22 saw four to five whales’ breath exchanges, fluke showing, terminal diving, and breaching. Don’t forget the birds they saw: osprey, cormorant, black-backed gull, herring gull, common tern, snowy egret, great egret, great blue heron, and American oystercatcher. You never know what you are going to see from day to day; it is always changing!
Thanks, Heidi Lechner and Dana Trojca, for the beautiful photos. Also, a big thank you to the New York Marine Rescue Center for their amazing volunteers!
