Incredible trips on the Atlantic Pearl – Full Report – Whale Watching Cruise 8-26-2022 & 8-27-2022
Another incredible two days on The Atlantic Pearl! On 8-26-22, one of the whales they saw was quick moving, with frequent direction changes; it possibly could have been the same whale/ duo from the 8-24-22 trips. There were several lunge feedings, terminal dives, and breath exchanges. 8-27-22 10 AM spotted two whales; they saw several fluke showings, terminal dives, and breath exchanges. Also, many dolphins swimming around the boat and some jellyfish in the morning. 2:45 PM trip got to see terminal diving, breath exchanges, fluke showing, and at least six lunge feedings. Two or more groups of sanderlings were flying over water in the afternoon. And don’t forget the birds they saw: osprey, black-backed gull, laughing gull, herring gull, snowy egret, great egret, American oystercatcher, common tern, and black skimmer. Every trip is different, but they have all been amazing lately!
We apologize for Sunday’s trip was canceled due to being too rough in the ocean.
Thanks, Heidi Lechner and Dana Trojca for the beautiful photos. Also, a big thank you to the New York Marine Rescue Center for their amazing volunteers!
