9/17 & 9/18 Whale Watching Cruises
Last weekend on The Atlantic Pearl, Once again, as you can see from the photos below, we got to see so many whales! Six whales were spotted, and photo proof of 3 whales was confirmed to have returned to the area with comparison pictures from previous trips. They saw multiple fluke showings, terminal dives, and breath exchanges. Multiple breaches were seen in the distance, too far to get clear pictures. The most active whale was confirmed to be a returning whale. The same whale was spotted last year and was incredibly active whale from the afternoon trip on Saturday, 9-5-22. Other marine life seen during this weekend was kemps ridley sea turtle and many pods of bunker surrounding the entire front of the boat. Also, let’s not forget the birds they saw: osprey, cormorant, black backed gull, laughing gull, herring gull, snowy egret, great egret, and common tern.
Thanks to Dana Trojca, for the beautiful photos. Also, a big thank you to the New York Marine Rescue Center for their amazing volunteers!
